FAT FRIDAY RETURNS TO ANGEL ORENSANZ ON MARCH 6, 2020
FAT FRIDAY lights up the New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition once a year in downtown Manhattan to celebrate an equal mix of charity and revelry—mixed with and a big fat dose of NOLA Love. Our 2020 theme is The Harlequin’s Carnival: a Checkered FAT FRIDAY. Will you release your inner lighthearted trickster for an evening of glorious mischief? Or will you reveal you checkered past with righteous stomp? Whichever you choose, come celebrate the FATtest FRIDAY in 2020 with us!
Our 2020 event will see a special musical guest; our FAT-tastic Krewe is working on a fabulous tasting menu, and we will have specialty drinks. With so much NOLA love, it is no surprise that FAT FRIDAY was proclaimed NYC’s Most Authentic Mardi Gras Party by the City of New Orleans. Stay tuned for more details!
FAT FRIDAY proceeds go to support a number of charitable organizations: participatory art organization FIGMENT (NYC), the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation and The Roots of Music (NOLA), The Equal Justice Initiative & The Lower East Side Girls Club (NYC & NOLA).
FAT FRIDAY began in response to the devastation brought to New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina by NOLA transplant Matthew Day and New Orleans enthusiast Wylie Stecklow. It has grown significantly since 2006, and has been named by the City of New Orleans as NYC’s Most Authentic Mardi Gras Party.
FAT FRIDAY is an opportunity for New Yorkers and lovers of N’awlins to honor and observe the spirit and legacy of New Orleans — through giving back by totally getting down.
