THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CELEBRATING FAT FRIDAY 2020 WITH US! WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU NEXT YEAR!

FAT FRIDAY lights up the New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition once a year in downtown Manhattan to celebrate an equal mix of charity and revelry—mixed with and a big fat dose of NOLA Love. Our 2020 theme was The Harlequin’s Carnival: a Checkered FAT FRIDAY.

FAT FRIDAY proceeds go to support a number of charitable organizations: participatory art organization FIGMENT (NYC), the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation and The Roots of Music (NOLA), The Equal Justice Initiative & The Lower East Side Girls Club (NYC & NOLA).

FAT FRIDAY began in response to the devastation brought to New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina by NOLA transplant Matthew Day and New Orleans enthusiast Wylie Stecklow. It has grown significantly since 2006, and has been named by the City of New Orleans as NYC’s Most Authentic Mardi Gras Party.

FAT FRIDAY is an opportunity for New Yorkers and lovers of N’awlins to honor and observe the spirit and legacy of New Orleans — through giving back by totally getting down.
