Fat Friday: NYC's 8th Annual Mardi Gras PartyFAT FRIDAY began by NOLA transplant Matthew Day and New Orleans enthusiast Wylie Stecklow in response to the devastation resulting from Hurricane Katrina. Inspired by the influential music, cuisine and unique culture that makes New Orleans, Stecklow and Day formed an impressive array of musicians, chefs, and artists to create a fundraiser for and celebration of New Orleans. With, of course, costumes, parades and beads — lots of beads.

As FAT FRIDAY has grown, the Fat Friday Krewe has grown and together they have grown the event by bringing together an amazing lineup of live music with special guests each year, the very best in NOLA inspired buffet dinners, sponsored specialty cocktails, and a talented NYC production team.

FAT FRIDAY is produced through the efforts of a talented Krewe from the NYC event production industry who donate their time and skills to this event. In addition, much of the talent, along with all of the food and bar, are donated to the cause.

What makes FAT FRIDAY truly special, is the spirit of community and charity that motivates all of those involved to further preserve and celebrate the unique culture of New Orleans. The heart of NOLA beats strong in NYC.
